About:
Dr. Peterson was born in 1940, just south of Dallas, to the best dad and mom in the world ever. Fifty-one years ago he graduated from Lincoln High School. Dr. Peterson holds B.A., Dallas Baptist College, M.A., Dallas Seminary, and D. Min. from Western Seminary in Oregon.
Dr. Peterson served fourteen years as Senior Pastor of Bethel Bible Fellowship in Carrollton, Texas and has been in the ministry for a total of 45 years. He retired from the pastorate in 2003. Retirement has allowed him the freedom to focus on his love of assisting churches desiring to become multi-ethnic congregations. Dr. Peterson has had the opportunity to travel around the world for over 30 yrs as preacher, visiting professor, advisor and consultant. In 2006, he was invited to lead the spiritual life retreat in Garmisch, Germany, for all the U.S. Military Chaplains serving in Europe. As an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary Dr. Peterson is working with various DMin students and has two courses in the DTS catalog. Currently, Dr. Peterson joyfully serves as a consultant to local churches wishing to become an intentional multi-ethnic church
For the past 10 years Dr. Peterson has had the privilege of serving in a number of leadership capacities at the national level of his denomination, (Evangelical Covenant Churches). This includes being the academic coach and advisor. A special interest of his is participation in the emerging multi-ethnic church movement. In conjunction with a number of missionaries and academics Dr. Peterson is involved in an attempt to write standards for doing multi-ethnic church ministry. Along with four other men Dr. Peterson was an incorporator of Mosaix Global Network, which has become a leading national multi-ethnic church agency.
Dr. Peterson is also a contributor to Unity in Christ Magazine, an online quarterly. This forum (UCM) gathers practitioners to engage in serious dialogue regarding all aspects of doing multi-ethnic church ministry in North America. He is a frequent speaker at multi-ethnic church workshops and conferences; Assistant Director for the Doctor of Ministry Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary; and Vice President and National Field Director of the Urban Evangelical Mission in Dallas, Texas.
