Is it your purpose to include articles of opposing viewpoints of various doctrines or to attempt to provide a consistent stream of opinion on various subjects?

The answer is quite simple: We try to represent viewpoints that are within the parameters of broad evangelical thought. If we tried to restrict the articles to just one point of view, then we would have to restrict them to just one author—and even that might not be enough! I myself have changed my mind in many areas over the years on several issues. And I can assure you, none of us on the BSF team agrees with each other 100% of the time. Our desire is to get Christians to think, to wrestle with the text, and to decide for themselves. This is in the spirit of the Reformation’s belief in the priesthood of believers: each believer is responsible to know God and to know his revealed will. This does not mean that each Christian has the right to pool his ignorance with other uninformed believers, but that each of us should study the Bible, listen to well-trained teachers, and think through the issues. We should know what we believe and why. Ours should be an informed faith. On the matter of election, you may decide that my views are right, that Dr. Strauss’ views are right, or that neither of us is right. That’s fine. The most important thing is that you wrestle with the text and bow to the authority of scripture. In other words, we want you to be informed about the views that are well within the orthodox orb, and know why you believe what you believe. You, too, will change your mind as you reflect on these issues more and more.
