About:

Frank DeCanio holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Systems Science from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He later earned a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, and then a Doctor of Theology degree from the University of South Africa in the Department of Old Testament and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. Dr. DeCanio worked as a research and development engineer for twenty-five years before going to seminary. He and his wife of 51 years were missionaries in Africa for several years where he taught Bible exposition and hermeneutics at evangelical seminaries/Bible colleges. Dr. DeCanio is presently researching and writing while looking to promote a methodology of analysis, synthesis, and exegesis which he developed in his doctoral thesis entitled, "A Systems-Communication Approach to Biblical Hermeneutics from an Evangelical Perspective." The uniqueness of this approach is found in the methodology of synthesis which seeks to understand each book of the Bible as a unified and coherent whole and to express that understanding in a linguistic form. He has made application of this approach to most of the books of the Bible. He is in the process of revising and improving his first edition of an analysis and synthesis of the Bible. He plans to post this work on Bible.org as a number of series as each revision is completed.
